The Path of Ancient Yogis

Retreat

Nepal

start: Apr 9, 2025
end: Apr 19, 2025

Overview

According to Yoga philosophy the more you desire to know who you truly are and why you are here having a human experience, the more you will understand that who you really are is more than who you think you are.

My intention for this 10-day journey through the magnificent Kathmandu Valley and the lower Himalayas is to invite us into the exploration of this truth, as we leave behind our modern daily life and habits and the ingrained ideas about ourselves.

To this end, our journey weaves together powerful Yogic practices including asana, meditation & pranayama, with mystical Buddhist and Hindu teachings, and visits to ancient temples and spiritual sites, in the land and culture that helped to write the biography of the Yoga we know today. Just being present in these spaces can be deeply transformative and profoundly moving.

If you feel called, join me for what will be a life-changing journey. We will practice Yoga in a Tibetan monastery and visit the medieval city of Patan. We will trek through the landscapes at the foot of the Himalayas, and visit the holiest Buddhist and Hindu sites including Bouddhanath and Pashupatinath.

Easter break period specifically and the month of April generally represent the ideal time to visit Nepal, with warm temperatures and higher visibility of the majestic Himalayas!

"Nepal is a home to many great yogis who have gone before us. Out of their wisdom, love and kindness they left us important footprints to follow. Let us explore this path together with humility, grace and an open heart." -Dee

"I'm not sure how any other retreat will top this experience!"

"We moved around from one magical place to another with perfectly balanced time to explore and practice time, from meditation to hatha yoga, with an occasional heat from ashtanga and a mellow cacao ceremony and restorative yoga. We ate delicious food day after day and met some of the most beautiful people who occasionally overwhelmed us with their generosity. It just flowed and this is only possible when one is so expertly guided by the wisdom, deep knowledge, intuition and compassion of an amazing teacher.  I'm now back home with a lifetime's worth of memories, my commute to work is soundtracked by the Nepal playlist and I have been practicing yoga almost daily.  I'm signing up to all Dee's future retreats with no description required."

"A combination of the hustle and bustle of the city and authentic places in the Kathmandu valley, a rich Nepali meal, morning yoga and afternoon meditation, and a visit to a Buddhist monastery near the capital, a walk through the rice fields, a stay at the Namo Buddha resort at 1,800m, where you can wake up to the chirping of unusual birds and crickets, made this April study and trip spectacular.

Enriched with new experience and new ideas about what peace, harmony, selfhood, meditation and yoga mean, with the driving force of the originator of this idea, our Dee, we return to everyday life intoxicated by smells, colors, mantras, sounds and diving into ourselves, with the desire to give our world at least a little of what Nepal and Dee selflessly gave us."

"It has been one beautiful ride inside and outside. Amazing locations with just enough time to experience both a street chaos and atmosphere of Kathmandu and Patan and then return to a peace in the nature and pujas in the monasteries. Yoga classes which grounded and energized us accompanied with mindfulness sessions have been so greatly balanced and led by Dee.

And not to forget, wisdom and blessings of great masters and Nepali people whom we met on our way “spiced” everything up.

But things that could’t be written yet felt and experienced are the most important things. We will keep them in our hearts, bring home as wisdom and cherish them forever.

Anyone who takes this trip (which I highly recommend) will definitely be changed forever"

Yoga

Our program includes daily Yogic practices of asana, pranayama, philosophy, meditation and contemplation. The precise schedule of our Yoga classes will depend on our location and space availability. We will practice in ancient meditation rooms in Buddhist Monasteries, on rooftops overlooking the Kathmandu Valley and other exciting locations. Meditation & pranayama will be practiced daily.

The afternoon gatherings will be inspired by the day trips and excursions, and include meditation, a restorative practice, talks on various philosophical and technical aspects of Yoga, as well as pranayama (breathing). The philosophy lectures will introduce Buddhist teachings and familiarize you with Nepals spirutal heritage.

Supersoul = ‘Paramatman’ (परमात्मन्) or the Supereme Soul, exists in the hearts of all beings. (Bhagavad Gita)

Yoga teaches us to live fully, selflessly and gracefully. Creating and holding space for this process, igniting possibilities for more conscious living is at the heart of what we do.
